Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling in CBORParser._decodeLongerName(), CBORParser._decodeChunkedName(), and SmileParser._handleLongFieldName(), which accumulate a decoded property name without applying the maxNameLength constraint that exists to bound exactly that allocation. An attacker can exhaust the heap and terminate the process by submitting a document whose single property name is as long as they are able to transmit. This requires only that the application parse untrusted Smile or CBOR input through an ObjectMapper or the format factories, and no configuration prevents it, since the setting that would is the one not being enforced.

How to fix Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling?

    Upgrade com.fasterxml.jackson.dataformat:jackson-dataformat-smile to version 2.18.10, 2.21.6, 2.22.2 or higher.
