    Deserialization of Untrusted Data

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Deserialization of Untrusted Data via JGroupsEndpoint.createExchange(Message) in the Camel-JGroups consumer. An attacker with network access to the JGroups cluster can send a crafted serialized ObjectMessage, which JGroups deserializes before Camel processes it; without a JVM-wide or JGroups deserialization filter, a usable gadget chain on the application classpath can let the attacker execute code in the Camel process. When the consumer uses the default UDP multicast channel, it has no authentication or encryption, so a host that can reach the cluster can send messages without credentials.

    Notes

    • At the network-entry step, the default UDP multicast transport limits attackers to hosts on an adjacent network that can reach the cluster’s multicast group or bind port.

How to fix Deserialization of Untrusted Data?
