    Directory Traversal

    Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Directory Traversal via the PDComplexFileSpecification.getFilename function. An attacker can access arbitrary files on the file system by supplying crafted file names that traverse directories during file extraction.

    Note:

    This issue affects the ExtractEmbeddedFiles example in Apache PDFBox and only affects users that might have copied the example artifact into their project and then run that in production in a vulnerable configuration.
