    Cross-site Scripting (XSS)

org.apache.wicket:wicket-extensions is a rich component library for the Wicket framework.

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Cross-site Scripting (XSS) through org.apache.wicket.extensions.markup.html.form.palette.component.AbstractOptions in the palette option-rendering code. An attacker can inject arbitrary HTML attributes into a rendered <option> element by supplying attacker-controlled values through Palette.getAdditionalAttributesForChoices, Palette.getAdditionalAttributesForSelection, or AbstractOptions.getAdditionalAttributes. This can lead to XSS in applications that pass untrusted data into those additional attributes, allowing script execution in the victim’s browser when the palette is displayed.

How to fix Cross-site Scripting (XSS)?

    Upgrade org.apache.wicket:wicket-extensions to version 8.19.0, 9.24.0, 10.11.0 or higher.

    Cross-site Scripting (XSS)

org.apache.wicket:wicket-extensions is a rich component library for the Wicket framework.

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Cross-site Scripting (XSS) through the AjaxEditableLabel, AjaxEditableChoiceLabel, and AjaxEditableMultiLineLabel rendering paths in wicket-extensions. An attacker can execute script in a victim’s browser by supplying attacker-controlled choice or null-label content that those components write directly into the label markup. When an AjaxEditableChoiceLabel is backed by a non-null IChoiceRenderer, its display value reaches the page without the HTML escaping normally applied to component model values, and the same unescaped rendering happens when any of the three editable label components displays defaultNullLabel() for an empty model. This breaks page integrity for users who view the affected component and allows injected HTML to run in the application context.

    Cross-site Scripting (XSS)

org.apache.wicket:wicket-extensions is a rich component library for the Wicket framework.

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Cross-site Scripting (XSS) via improper neutralization of JavaScript in PopupSettings.java‎, Link.java, and ExternalLink.java markup. An attacker can execute arbitrary JavaScript code in the user's browser by injecting specially crafted strings.

Note: While the Apache Security Advisory suggests only versions above 8.x are affected, this is likely because 7.x and below are EoL as the vulnerable code has been traced to earlier versions.

How to fix Cross-site Scripting (XSS)?

Upgrade org.apache.wicket:wicket-extensions to version 10.9.0 or higher.
