onionshare-cli@2.6

OnionShare lets you securely and anonymously send and receive files. It works by starting a web server, making it accessible as a Tor onion service, and generating an unguessable web address so others can download files from you, or upload files to you. It does _not_ require setting up a separate server or using a third party file-sharing service.

    Symlink Attack

onionshare-cli is a software that lets you securely and anonymously send and receive files. It works by starting a web server, making it accessible as a Tor onion service, and generating an unguessable web address so others can download files from you, or upload files to you. It does not require setting up a separate server or using a third party file-sharing service.

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Symlink Attack in the set_file_info process. An attacker can access sensitive local files by supplying a directory containing a symbolic link to a file outside the intended shared directory, which is then served to remote recipients through the file sharing service.

    How to fix Symlink Attack?

Upgrade onionshare-cli to version 2.6.4 or higher.

    Incorrect Authorization

onionshare-cli is a software that lets you securely and anonymously send and receive files. It works by starting a web server, making it accessible as a Tor onion service, and generating an unguessable web address so others can download files from you, or upload files to you. It does not require setting up a separate server or using a third party file-sharing service.

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Incorrect Authorization in the ReceiveModeRequest._get_file_stream process. An attacker can cause unauthorized files to be written to disk by sending crafted multipart POST requests to endpoints such as /upload or /upload-ajax, even when file uploads are explicitly disabled in the service configuration. This can result in unwanted file placement and disk consumption, potentially bypassing user-imposed restrictions on file uploads.

    How to fix Incorrect Authorization?

Upgrade onionshare-cli to version 2.6.4 or higher.
