CVE-2026-2291  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade Alpine:3.22 dnsmasq to version 2.91-r1 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream dnsmasq package and not the dnsmasq package as distributed by Alpine. See How to fix? for Alpine:3.22 relevant fixed versions and status.

dnsmasqs extract_name() function can be abused to cause a heap buffer overflow, allowing an attacker to inject false DNS cache entries, which could result in DNS lookups to redirect to an attacker-controlled IP address, or to cause a DoS.
