CWE-829  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade Alpine:3.22 mtr to version 0.96-r0 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream mtr package and not the mtr package as distributed by Alpine. See How to fix? for Alpine:3.22 relevant fixed versions and status.

mtr through 0.95, in certain privileged contexts, mishandles execution of a program specified by the MTR_PACKET environment variable. NOTE: mtr on macOS may often have Sudo rules, as an indirect consequence of Homebrew not installing setuid binaries.
