CWE-284  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade Amazon-Linux:2 bcc-doc to version 0:0.24.0-3.amzn2.0.5 or higher.
This issue was patched in ALAS2-2024-2551.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream bcc-doc package and not the bcc-doc package as distributed by Amazon-Linux. See How to fix? for Amazon-Linux:2 relevant fixed versions and status.

If kernel headers need to be extracted, bcc will attempt to load them from a temporary directory. An unprivileged attacker could use this to force bcc to load compromised linux headers. Linux distributions which provide kernel headers by default are not affected by default.
