CWE-94  (opens in a new tab)

This issue was patched in ALAS2-2019-1249.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream rubygems-devel package and not the rubygems-devel package as distributed by Amazon-Linux. See How to fix? for Amazon-Linux:2 relevant fixed versions and status.

An issue was discovered in RubyGems 2.6 and later through 3.0.2. A crafted gem with a multi-line name is not handled correctly. Therefore, an attacker could inject arbitrary code to the stub line of gemspec, which is eval-ed by code in ensure_loadable_spec during the preinstall check.
