CWE-77  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade Amazon-Linux:2 zsh to version 0:5.8.1-1.amzn2.0.1 or higher.
This issue was patched in ALAS2-2022-1757.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream zsh package and not the zsh package as distributed by Amazon-Linux. See How to fix? for Amazon-Linux:2 relevant fixed versions and status.

In zsh before 5.8.1, an attacker can achieve code execution if they control a command output inside the prompt, as demonstrated by a %F argument. This occurs because of recursive PROMPT_SUBST expansion.
