CVE-2015-5312  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-399  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade Amazon-Linux:2018.03 libxml2-debuginfo to version 0:2.9.1-6.2.50.amzn1 or higher.
This issue was patched in ALAS-2015-628.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream libxml2-debuginfo package and not the libxml2-debuginfo package as distributed by Amazon-Linux. See How to fix? for Amazon-Linux:2018.03 relevant fixed versions and status.

The xmlStringLenDecodeEntities function in parser.c in libxml2 before 2.9.3 does not properly prevent entity expansion, which allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service (CPU consumption) via crafted XML data, a different vulnerability than CVE-2014-3660.
