CWE-200  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade Debian:11 sendmail to version 8.14.4-6 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream sendmail package and not the sendmail package as distributed by Debian. See How to fix? for Debian:11 relevant fixed versions and status.

The sm_close_on_exec function in conf.c in sendmail before 8.14.9 has arguments in the wrong order, and consequently skips setting expected FD_CLOEXEC flags, which allows local users to access unintended high-numbered file descriptors via a custom mail-delivery program.
