CWE-399  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade Debian:12 chrony to version 1.23-7 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream chrony package and not the chrony package as distributed by Debian. See How to fix? for Debian:12 relevant fixed versions and status.

The client logging functionality in chronyd in Chrony before 1.23.1 does not restrict the amount of memory used for storage of client information, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (memory consumption) via spoofed (1) NTP or (2) cmdmon packets.
