CWE-399  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade Debian:unstable lua-expat to version 1.2.0-1 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream lua-expat package and not the lua-expat package as distributed by Debian. See How to fix? for Debian:unstable relevant fixed versions and status.

LuaExpat before 1.2.0 does not properly detect recursion during entity expansion, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (memory and CPU consumption) via a crafted XML document containing a large number of nested entity references, a similar issue to CVE-2003-1564.
