CWE-20  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

This issue was patched in ELSA-2011-1219.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream samba package and not the samba package as distributed by Oracle. See How to fix? for Oracle:5 relevant fixed versions and status.

client/mount.cifs.c in mount.cifs in smbfs in Samba 3.4.5 and earlier does not verify that the (1) device name and (2) mountpoint strings are composed of valid characters, which allows local users to cause a denial of service (mtab corruption) via a crafted string.
