CVE-2008-1612  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-20  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade Oracle:5 squid to version 7:2.6.STABLE6-5.el5_1.3 or higher.
This issue was patched in ELSA-2008-0214.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream squid package and not the squid package as distributed by Oracle. See How to fix? for Oracle:5 relevant fixed versions and status.

The arrayShrink function (lib/Array.c) in Squid 2.6.STABLE17 allows attackers to cause a denial of service (process exit) via unknown vectors that cause an array to shrink to 0 entries, which triggers an assert error. NOTE: this issue is due to an incorrect fix for CVE-2007-6239.
