CWE-416  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade Oracle:6 kernel-debug to version 0:2.6.32-431.20.3.el6 or higher.
This issue was patched in ELSA-2014-0771.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream kernel-debug package and not the kernel-debug package as distributed by Oracle. See How to fix? for Oracle:6 relevant fixed versions and status.

The __do_follow_link function in fs/namei.c in the Linux kernel before 2.6.33 does not properly handle the last pathname component during use of certain filesystems, which allows local users to cause a denial of service (incorrect free operations and system crash) via an open system call.
