NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream perl-version package and not the perl-version package as distributed by Oracle. See How to fix? for Oracle:6 relevant fixed versions and status.

The rehash mechanism in Perl 5.8.2 through 5.16.x allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service (memory consumption and crash) via a crafted hash key.
