NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream fontconfig-devel-doc package and not the fontconfig-devel-doc package as distributed by RHEL. See How to fix? for RHEL:10 relevant fixed versions and status.

fontconfig before 2.17.1 has an off-by-one error in allocation during sfnt capability handling, leading to a one-byte out-of-bounds write, and potentially a crash or code execution. This is in FcFontCapabilities in fcfreetype.c.
