CWE-126  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade RHEL:10 libarchive to version 0:3.7.7-2.el10_0 or higher.
This issue was patched in RHSA-2025:7510.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream libarchive package and not the libarchive package as distributed by RHEL. See How to fix? for RHEL:10 relevant fixed versions and status.

libarchive through 3.7.7 has a heap-based buffer over-read in header_gnu_longlink in archive_read_support_format_tar.c via a TAR archive because it mishandles truncation in the middle of a GNU long linkname.
