CWE-22  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade RHEL:10 rsync-rrsync to version 0:3.4.1-2.el10 or higher.
This issue was patched in RHBA-2025:6470.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream rsync-rrsync package and not the rsync-rrsync package as distributed by RHEL. See How to fix? for RHEL:10 relevant fixed versions and status.

A flaw was found in rsync. When using the --safe-links option, the rsync client fails to properly verify if a symbolic link destination sent from the server contains another symbolic link within it. This results in a path traversal vulnerability, which may lead to arbitrary file write outside the desired directory.
