CWE-476  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade RHEL:6 perf to version 0:2.6.32-131.2.1.el6 or higher.
This issue was patched in RHSA-2011:0836.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream perf package and not the perf package as distributed by RHEL. See How to fix? for RHEL:6 relevant fixed versions and status.

The raw_release function in net/can/raw.c in the Linux kernel before 2.6.39-rc6 does not properly validate a socket data structure, which allows local users to cause a denial of service (NULL pointer dereference) or possibly have unspecified other impact via a crafted release operation.
