CWE-476  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade RHEL:7 libvncserver to version 0:0.9.9-9.el7_0.1 or higher.
This issue was patched in RHSA-2014:1826.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream libvncserver package and not the libvncserver package as distributed by RHEL. See How to fix? for RHEL:7 relevant fixed versions and status.

The rfbProcessClientNormalMessage function in libvncserver/rfbserver.c in LibVNCServer 0.9.9 and earlier does not properly handle attempts to send a large amount of ClientCutText data, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (memory consumption or daemon crash) via a crafted message that is processed by using a single unchecked malloc.
