CVE-2023-38408  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-94  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade RHEL:7 openssh-clients to version 0:7.4p1-23.el7_9 or higher.
This issue was patched in RHSA-2023:4382.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream openssh-clients package and not the openssh-clients package as distributed by RHEL. See How to fix? for RHEL:7 relevant fixed versions and status.

The PKCS#11 feature in ssh-agent in OpenSSH before 9.3p2 has an insufficiently trustworthy search path, leading to remote code execution if an agent is forwarded to an attacker-controlled system. (Code in /usr/lib is not necessarily safe for loading into ssh-agent.) NOTE: this issue exists because of an incomplete fix for CVE-2016-10009.
