NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream openssh-server-sysvinit package and not the openssh-server-sysvinit package as distributed by RHEL. See How to fix? for RHEL:7 relevant fixed versions and status.

The auth_password function in auth-passwd.c in sshd in OpenSSH before 7.3 does not limit password lengths for password authentication, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crypt CPU consumption) via a long string.
