CWE-416  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade RHEL:7 tigervnc-icons to version 0:1.8.0-25.el7_9 or higher.
This issue was patched in RHSA-2023:1594.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream tigervnc-icons package and not the tigervnc-icons package as distributed by RHEL. See How to fix? for RHEL:7 relevant fixed versions and status.

A flaw was found in X.Org Server Overlay Window. A Use-After-Free may lead to local privilege escalation. If a client explicitly destroys the compositor overlay window (aka COW), the Xserver would leave a dangling pointer to that window in the CompScreen structure, which will trigger a use-after-free later.
