CWE-829  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade RHEL:8 shim-x64 to version 0:15.6-1.el8 or higher.
This issue was patched in RHSA-2022:5096.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream shim-x64 package and not the shim-x64 package as distributed by RHEL. See How to fix? for RHEL:8 relevant fixed versions and status.

The GRUB2's shim_lock verifier allows non-kernel files to be loaded on shim-powered secure boot systems. Allowing such files to be loaded may lead to unverified code and modules to be loaded in GRUB2 breaking the secure boot trust-chain.
