CWE-122  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade RHEL:8 wireshark-cli to version 1:2.6.2-17.el8 or higher.
This issue was patched in RHSA-2023:7015.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream wireshark-cli package and not the wireshark-cli package as distributed by RHEL. See How to fix? for RHEL:8 relevant fixed versions and status.

Due to failure in validating the length provided by an attacker-crafted RTPS packet, Wireshark version 4.0.5 and prior, by default, is susceptible to a heap-based buffer overflow, and possibly code execution in the context of the process running Wireshark.
