CWE-23  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade RHEL:9 ghostscript to version 0:9.54.0-12.el9_2.2 or higher.
This issue was patched in RHSA-2024:6466.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream ghostscript package and not the ghostscript package as distributed by RHEL. See How to fix? for RHEL:9 relevant fixed versions and status.

An issue was discovered in Artifex Ghostscript before 10.03.1. Path traversal and command execution can occur (via a crafted PostScript document) because of path reduction in base/gpmisc.c. For example, restrictions on use of %pipe% can be bypassed via the aa/../%pipe%command# output filename.
