How to fix?

Upgrade Ubuntu:12.04 ntp to version 1:4.2.6.p3+dfsg-1ubuntu3.2 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream ntp package and not the ntp package as distributed by Ubuntu. See How to fix? for Ubuntu:12.04 relevant fixed versions and status.

The config_auth function in ntpd in NTP before 4.2.7p11, when an auth key is not configured, improperly generates a key, which makes it easier for remote attackers to defeat cryptographic protection mechanisms via a brute-force attack.
