NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream postgresql-9.1 package and not the postgresql-9.1 package as distributed by Ubuntu. See How to fix? for Ubuntu:12.10 relevant fixed versions and status.

PostgreSQL 9.2.x before 9.2.4 and 9.1.x before 9.1.9 does not properly check REPLICATION privileges, which allows remote authenticated users to bypass intended backup restrictions by calling the (1) pg_start_backup or (2) pg_stop_backup functions.
