CWE-310  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade Ubuntu:14.04 apache2 to version 2.4.7-1ubuntu4.15 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream apache2 package and not the apache2 package as distributed by Ubuntu. See How to fix? for Ubuntu:14.04 relevant fixed versions and status.

In Apache HTTP Server versions 2.4.0 to 2.4.23, mod_session_crypto was encrypting its data/cookie using the configured ciphers with possibly either CBC or ECB modes of operation (AES256-CBC by default), hence no selectable or builtin authenticated encryption. This made it vulnerable to padding oracle attacks, particularly with CBC.
