CWE-399  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade Ubuntu:14.10 spice to version 0.12.4-0nocelt1 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream spice package and not the spice package as distributed by Ubuntu. See How to fix? for Ubuntu:14.10 relevant fixed versions and status.

The (1) red_channel_pipes_add_type and (2) red_channel_pipes_add_empty_msg functions in server/red_channel.c in SPICE before 0.12.4 do not properly perform ring loops, which might allow remote attackers to cause a denial of service (reachable assertion and server exit) by triggering a network error.
