CWE-20  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade Ubuntu:15.04 wireshark to version 1.12.1+g01b65bf-4+deb8u3build0.15.04.1 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream wireshark package and not the wireshark package as distributed by Ubuntu. See How to fix? for Ubuntu:15.04 relevant fixed versions and status.

The ptvcursor_add function in the ptvcursor implementation in epan/proto.c in Wireshark 1.12.x before 1.12.7 does not check whether the expected amount of data is available, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) via a crafted packet.
