NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream jetty package and not the jetty package as distributed by Ubuntu. See How to fix? for Ubuntu:16.04 relevant fixed versions and status.

Jetty through 9.4.x is prone to a timing channel in util/security/Password.java, which makes it easier for remote attackers to obtain access by observing elapsed times before rejection of incorrect passwords.
