CWE-125  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade Ubuntu:16.04 ldns to version 1.6.17-8ubuntu0.1+esm1 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream ldns package and not the ldns package as distributed by Ubuntu. See How to fix? for Ubuntu:16.04 relevant fixed versions and status.

When a zone file in ldns 1.7.1 is parsed, the function ldns_nsec3_salt_data is too trusted for the length value obtained from the zone file. When the memcpy is copied, the 0xfe - ldns_rdf_size(salt_rdf) byte data can be copied, causing heap overflow information leakage.
