CWE-120  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade Ubuntu:16.10 qemu to version 1:2.6.1+dfsg-0ubuntu5.1 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream qemu package and not the qemu package as distributed by Ubuntu. See How to fix? for Ubuntu:16.10 relevant fixed versions and status.

The virtqueue_map_desc function in hw/virtio/virtio.c in QEMU (aka Quick Emulator) allows local guest OS administrators to cause a denial of service (NULL pointer dereference and QEMU process crash) via a large I/O descriptor buffer length value.
