CWE-835  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade Ubuntu:16.10 strongswan to version 5.3.5-1ubuntu4.3 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream strongswan package and not the strongswan package as distributed by Ubuntu. See How to fix? for Ubuntu:16.10 relevant fixed versions and status.

The ASN.1 parser in strongSwan before 5.5.3 improperly handles CHOICE types when the x509 plugin is enabled, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (infinite loop) via a crafted certificate.
