CWE-416  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade Ubuntu:18.04 xorg-server to version 2:1.19.6-1ubuntu4.15 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream xorg-server package and not the xorg-server package as distributed by Ubuntu. See How to fix? for Ubuntu:18.04 relevant fixed versions and status.

A flaw was found in X.Org Server Overlay Window. A Use-After-Free may lead to local privilege escalation. If a client explicitly destroys the compositor overlay window (aka COW), the Xserver would leave a dangling pointer to that window in the CompScreen structure, which will trigger a use-after-free later.
