CWE-200  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade Alpine:3.20 alpine to version 2.23-r0 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream alpine package and not the alpine package as distributed by Alpine. See How to fix? for Alpine:3.20 relevant fixed versions and status.

Alpine before 2.23 silently proceeds to use an insecure connection after a /tls is sent in certain circumstances involving PREAUTH, which is a less secure behavior than the alternative of closing the connection and letting the user decide what they would like to do.
