CWE-190  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade Alpine:3.21 poppler to version 0.80.0-r0 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream poppler package and not the poppler package as distributed by Alpine. See How to fix? for Alpine:3.21 relevant fixed versions and status.

The JPXStream::init function in Poppler 0.78.0 and earlier doesn't check for negative values of stream length, leading to an Integer Overflow, thereby making it possible to allocate a large memory chunk on the heap, with a size controlled by an attacker, as demonstrated by pdftocairo.
