CVE-2026-5500  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade Alpine:3.23 wolfssl to version 5.9.1-r0 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream wolfssl package and not the wolfssl package as distributed by Alpine. See How to fix? for Alpine:3.23 relevant fixed versions and status.

wolfSSL's wc_PKCS7_DecodeAuthEnvelopedData() does not properly sanitize the AES-GCM authentication tag length received and has no lower bounds check. A man-in-the-middle can therefore truncate the mac field from 16 bytes to 1 byte, reducing the tag check from 2⁻¹²⁸ to 2⁻⁸.
