Overview

FFmpeg is a FFmpeg static library ruby binding that is compiled for iOS and CocoaPods.

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Heap-based Buffer Overflow via the librist_read() function in the RIST protocol reader (libavformat/librist.c). A remote attacker can cause a heap-based buffer overflow by sending a RIST packet whose payload is larger than the destination buffer supplied by the caller. Because librist_read() ignores the provided buffer size and copies the entire received payload, attacker-controlled data can be written beyond the allocated heap buffer.

Note: The vulnerability is remotely reachable through the async:rist:// URL scheme, where the asynchronous wrapper can provide a destination buffer smaller than the received RIST payload.
