CVE-2024-9143  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-787  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade OpenSSL-Universal to version 3.3.3000 or higher.

Overview

OpenSSL-Universal is a complete solution to OpenSSL on iOS and OSX

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Out-of-bounds Write when using low-level GF(2^m) elliptic curve APIs with untrusted explicit values for the field polynomial. An attacker can lead to an application crash or potentially remote code execution. However, the likelihood of encountering a vulnerable application is low due to the common use of named curves or X9.62 encoding in ECC protocols, which do not represent problematic input values."
