CWE-825  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

A fix was pushed into the master branch but not yet published.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Expired Pointer Dereference in the lzma.LZMADecompressor, bz2.BZ2Decompressor, and gzip.GzipFile modules. An attacker can execute arbitrary code or access sensitive information by triggering a use-after-free condition through repeated decompression calls with a previously errored decompressor instance.

Note: This is only exploitable if a decompressor object is re-used after a MemoryError is raised during decompression.
