CWE-295  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

A fix was pushed into the master branch but not yet published.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Improper Certificate Validation due to improper handling of Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) and Service (SRV) Subject Alternative Names (SANs) in the certificate validation process. An attacker can intercept sensitive information or impersonate legitimate services by presenting a specially crafted certificate that causes the process to incorrectly fall back to checking DNS hostnames against the Common Name (CN).
