CVE-2024-11053  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-200  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade libcurl to version 8.11.1 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Information Exposure when both .netrc file for credentials are in use, and HTTP redirects are followed. This will result in a password leakage used for the first host to the followed-to host.

Note: This is only exploitable if the .netrc file has an entry that matches the redirect target hostname, but the entry either omits just the password or omits both login and password.
