CVE-2025-68431  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-125  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

A fix was pushed into the master branch but not yet published.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Out-of-bounds Read via the HeifPixelImage::overlay() function. An attacker can cause a crash by supplying a crafted HEIF file with a malicious iovl overlay box that triggers a negative row length calculation, leading to a large out-of-bounds read during memory operations.

Workaround

This vulnerability can be mitigated by avoiding the decoding of images that use iovl overlay boxes.
