Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Improper Neutralization of Special Elements in Output Used by a Downstream Component ('Injection') in the ProxyCommand process when a malicious username is expanded through %r, which can inject shell metacharacters, expose environment variables, and cause unintended shell behavior. An attacker can access sensitive information or manipulate the environment by supplying crafted username inputs.

Workaround

This vulnerability can be mitigated by ensuring that connections are not executed with untrusted username inputs.
