Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Improper Validation of Integrity Check Value when processing cipher and tag-length fields of CMS AuthEnvelopedData containers. An attacker can bypass message integrity via replay attack. A non AEAD cipher is permitted in AuthEnvelopedData, so an attacker who can capture a legitimate AES-GCM message can replay it with the recipientInfos. Additionally, the attacker can reduce the AEAD tag length to a single byte, enabling brute-force forgery for applications that employ CMS_decrypt() to reject modified content.
